About GCASM

A commission for the responsible practice of spiritual medicine

The Global Commission for the Accreditation of Spiritual Medicine exists to bring standards, ethics, and ongoing review to the study and practice of spiritual medicine — serving organizations and institutions worldwide.

Our Purpose

Standards that serve organizations and those they serve

GCASM provides an accreditation framework for organizations and institutions involved in the research, education, or practice of spiritual medicine. Its purpose is to offer a credible, independent process through which an organization can be evaluated against standards of ethics, quality, and competence.

Rather than prescribing a single tradition, GCASM holds a shared ethical platform that respects the interfaith nature of spiritual medicine. It supports responsible practice through education, research, and continued oversight — so that standards remain living and accountable over time.

Our Mission

Three commitments at the heart of GCASM

Establish standards and an ethical platform

GCASM sets out the standards and ethical foundations that guide how spiritual medicine is taught, studied, and practiced — emphasizing integrity, responsibility, and respect.

Support future generations through foundational tools

By providing foundational tools and structures, GCASM helps ensure that those who come next inherit a disciplined and ethical basis for their work.

Promote education, research, and shared knowledge

GCASM encourages the open sharing of knowledge — supporting education and research that strengthen the responsible practice of spiritual medicine.

Governance

Board of Trustees

GCASM is overseen by a Board of Trustees responsible for safeguarding the commission's standards and ethical platform.
